Globetrotting Sunderland children's business in running for parenting award

A creative company which takes children on an educational journey around the world has been shortlisted for an award by MadeforMums, the UK’s fastest growing parenting community.

Geo Journey aims to inspire children to learn about the world throughly monthly parcels, starting with an initial explorer kit of a suitcase, travel journal, passport map and activities.

Through the Sunderland company’s monthly subscription, youngsters are then sent monthly packages – addressed to them personally – from Geo Journey’s characters Geo the owl and his best friend Atlas the puppy, who tell children about countries they are visiting.

Each month they send a fact filled letter telling of their travels, photo, stickers, activity booklets and travel tickets and souvenirs, such as boomerangs from Australia and clogs from Holland.

The firm is the brainchild of Christina Armstrong, who initially developed the idea as a way to teach her seven-year-old daughter Willow and four-year-old son Roman.

Since launching the firm in 2015, the business has steadily grown and expanded and Ms Armstrong now works alongside her sister Fiona, with the pair only starting to sell the Explorer Kits in 2017.
